
Lanes reopen after 2-vehicle crash on Highway 71
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Lake Travis Fire Rescue (LTFR) issued a traffic alert Thursday following a two-vehicle crash on Highway 71 heading east. According to Austin-Travis County EMS, six people were involved in the crash. Three people were ejected from their vehicle, and four people have been taken to the hospital related to the crash. Two people refused transport. Delays were expected in the area as first responders continued to work, but the highway was reopened by 10 a.m. According to LTFR, the crash occurred near the 15000 block of the highway, which is near the intersection of Cueva Drive near Bee Cave Storage. The eastbound lanes of Highway 71 were shut down while law enforcement completed their investigation. The westbound lanes of the highway remained open. At the time of the incident, LTFR said law enforcement was directing traffic.
