LA County deputy and civilian injured in Bellflower collision

A deputy of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and a civilian were taken to the hospital after a car accident in Bellflower on Tuesday afternoon. The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. near Artesia Boulevard and Virginia Avenue, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department crews to CBS News Los Angeles. The deputy from the Lakewood Station was on his way to respond to a service call at the time of the accident, without using lights and siren. According to officials, a driver in a Toyota made a left turn into the deputy's path resulting in the collision. Both victims were attended to by LAFD paramedics and transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The intersection was anticipated to be affected for several hours due to ongoing investigations.
