Kansas man in Mission Hills charged with driving under the influence in deadly collision

A man from Mission Hills, Kansas, has been accused of causing a fatal crash while driving under the influence on U.S. 50 Highway in Johnson County, Missouri. Peter Goss faces charges of DWI resulting in death, involuntary manslaughter, and driving in the wrong direction on a divided highway leading to an accident. It is alleged that on September 20, 2024, Goss was driving west in the eastbound lanes near Missouri 131 Highway when his vehicle collided head-on with another car. Authorities stated that Goss displayed signs of intoxication, with a preliminary breath test showing his blood alcohol level at twice the legal limit in Missouri. Despite initially refusing a blood test, officers obtained a warrant to collect and secure his blood for further testing. Investigators from the Missouri State Highway Patrol discovered no evidence that Goss attempted to avoid the oncoming vehicle before the crash.
