JUST IN: Victim identified in fatal Bridge City crash

The Texas Department of Public Safety on Friday identified a man killed when a driver crashed into his minivan, parked in front of a Bridge City home, as 67-year-old Gambino Carranza. Carranza was in the Dodge Caravan at the time. The crash was reported at about 5:30 a.m. Thursday on State Highway 87 at the intersection with State Highway 62. The preliminary crash investigation indicates that the driver of a 2020 Ford pickup truck was traveling south. It is reported that the driver traveled through the intersection and entered a private driveway where it struck a parked 2019 Dodge Caravan and pushed it into a home. The driver of the Ford, identified as 69-year-old Michael Heimbach of Orange, was not injured. The driver of the Dodge, now identified as Carranza from Bridge City, was transported to a nearby hospital where he died. There was one person in the residence, identified as a 61-year-old woman, also from Bridge City. She was transported for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time.
