
July 4 hit-and-run crash arrest of Honduran national: HCSO
The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has announced the arrest of a Honduran national in connection with a fatal accident on the Fourth of July. The incident occurred at the intersection of Bloomingdale Ave. and Providence Rd. around 4:50 a.m. on Friday, resulting in the death of a 19-year-old woman. The suspect, Roberto Carlos Meza Rosales, 21, fled the scene but was later apprehended. Meza Rosales, who entered the U.S. illegally in 2018, showed signs of alcohol impairment and confessed to leaving the scene. Sheriff Chad Chronister expressed condolences for the tragic loss and highlighted the gravity of the situation. Meza Rosales faces a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal crash, with the possibility of additional charges. The authorities are collaborating with U.S. Customs and Border Protection regarding his immigration status.
