JPSO deputy killed in motorcycle crash during funeral procession

A Jefferson Parish sheriff's deputy named Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer, 41, of River Ridge, tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident in Hollygrove. Ohlmeyer served with distinction for almost 15 years at the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office, holding various roles across different departments. Following his graduation from the Training Academy in August 2014, he worked at the Fourth District for 11 years before transitioning to the Traffic Division in 2025, where he recently became a motorman. He is survived by his wife, Desiree, and children Gavin and Olivia. The fatal crash occurred around 11:40 a.m. in the 9200 block of Airline Highway during a funeral procession, when Ohlmeyer was struck from behind by a car while riding his motorcycle. He was taken to a nearby hospital but unfortunately did not survive. The driver of the other vehicle was also hospitalized. The New Orleans Police Department is continuing their investigation into the incident.
