Journalist Rajiv Pratap Dies in Road Accident Blamed on Drunk Driving

In Uttarkashi, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) looking into the death of digital journalist Rajiv Pratap has determined that it was a result of a road accident caused by intoxication, as per the police statement on Thursday. Pratap, a 36-year-old resident of Dehradun, had gone missing on September 18 and was later found deceased at the Joshiada Barrage on September 28. Deputy Superintendent of Police Janak Panwar, heading the SIT, informed the media that based on evidence like post-mortem reports, CCTV footage, and witness statements, the initial judgment is that it was a road accident, with other aspects of the case still under examination. Panwar detailed the events leading up to the incident, which involved Pratap consuming alcohol with acquaintances and ultimately driving off alone. While the investigation seems to be leaning towards an accidental death, all possible aspects of the case are being thoroughly explored.
