John Elway Business Partner Dies After Freak Golfing Accident Involving QB

In an unfortunate accident while golfing, a close friend and former agent of John Elway, Jeff Sperbeck, passed away from injuries he sustained at 62 years old. He fell off a golf cart and hit his head on asphalt, leaving him in need of life support, according to reports.Elway, a former HoF quarterback and general manager of the Denver Broncos, was driving the cart when the fall took place.TMZ reported that the video suggests there is no evidence of Elway driving recklessly leading to the fall, so it seems like a freak accident with no one at fault.Sperbeck held on for a couple of days after sustaining his injuries, falling off the golf cart on Saturday, and officially passing away on Wednesday at a Palm Springs hospital. The Riverside County Sheriff's Office is investigating the incident, but according to TMZ, nothing suggests foul play at hand.Elway played 16 years in the NFL, all with the Broncos. He then went on to serve as the franchise's general manager and vice president before transitioning to a consultant role, and then finally left the franchise after his contract expired in 2023.Sperbeck was an NFL agent for 30 years and represented over 100 NFL football players, coaches, and executives. As evident with Elway and their close relationship, Sperbeck was well-respected by his clients and stayed in touch with them after their NFL careers.Elway was reportedly the one who called 9-1-1 at the time of the fall and is devastated by the loss of a close friend. Along with Elway driving the cart, his son Jack was also riding on the cart. Nobody else besides Sperbeck was harmed in the accident.Along with having a close friendship, Elway and Sperbeck had a close business relationship. The main ones included 7 Cellars wine and Elway's restaurants. Sperbeck had been Elway's marketing representative since the early 1990s, when Elway was still playing for the Broncos.During his time as Denver's general manager, Sperbeck, who lived in Southern California, would accompany Elway whenever the team played on the West Coast.Sperbeck also showed a kind heart in an unfortunate accident, not too different from his own with one of his clients. When former Peyton Manning and Broncos quarterbacks coach Gregg Knapp was killed after being hit by a car while riding a bike, Sperbeck helped with service arrangements and even founded the Coach Knapp Memorial Fund.As evident by all of his clients and his relationship with Elway, the world lost Jeff Sperbeck, an influential and kind-hearted person, too soon.More NFL News:Bill Belichick Could Lose UNC Job Because of Jordon HudsonBrowns HC Responds to Shedeur Sanders Prank Call IncidentPatrick Mahomes Sends One-Word Message as Shedeur Sanders Continues to Fall in NFL Draft
