Jeremy Renner says ‘I know I died’ after snowplow accident that left him with 30 broken bones
RENO, Nevada (WJW) — Jeremy Renner is offering new details into the terrifying snow plow accident that left him with 30 broken bones on New Year's Day 2023. The Oscar-nominated actor wrote in his brand new memoir, "My Next Breath," that he believes he died "right there on the driveway to my house." "As I lay on the ice, my heart rate slowed, and right there, on that New Year’s Day, unknown to my daughter, my sisters, my friends, my father, my mother, I just got tired," Renner wrote in the book, as published in Us Weekly. "After about 30 minutes on the ice, of breathing manually for so long, an effort akin to doing 10 or 20 push-ups per minute for half an hour … that’s when I died." The “Avengers” star was trying to help a stranded person when he was hit by his own vehicle, a 14,000-pound PistenBully Snowcat, near Lake Tahoe. Renner was rushed to the hospital and, following release, has continued the hard work of recovery from his traumatic injuries. "I know I died — in fact, I’m sure of it," he wrote in the memoir, explaining the EMTs who responded to the scene told him his heart rate hit "18." "When I died, what I felt was energy, a constantly connected, beautiful and fantastic energy," he wrote, per Us Weekly. "There was no time, place, or space, and nothing to see, except a kind of electric, two-way vision made from strands of that inconceivable energy." In a previous interview with Diane Sawyer, Renner said the experience has taught him a lot. “I’ve lost a lot of flesh and bone in this experience, but I’ve been refueled and refilled with love and titanium,” he said. The actor is currently in the "Mayor of Kingstown."
