Iowa State Patrol looks into three deadly accidents

Iowa State Patrol is looking into three tragic accidents that took place on Saturday. The incidents occurred in Plymouth, Poweshiek, and Lee counties. In one instance, an 18-year-old lost his life in a motorcycle accident. According to Iowa State Patrol, Lucas Timothy Johnson was traveling west on County Road 103 at approximately 7:45 a.m. when he failed to navigate a curve, veered into a ditch, and collided with a utility pole, resulting in his death at the scene. Later in the day, around 5:30 p.m., a Poweshiek County crash claimed the lives of two individuals and left three others injured. Reports suggest that a Jeep traveling east on Ewart Road failed to obey a stop sign at Highway 63 and collided with another Jeep at the intersection, ultimately coming to rest in a cornfield. The identities of the deceased individuals have not been disclosed as their families are in the process of being notified. Another tragedy unfolded in Plymouth County where a 19-year-old woman, Sarah Van Ostrand, was killed in a crash. Investigators state that Ostrand was driving west on County Road C-12 at approximately 7:45 p.m. when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck a vocational truck traveling east, leading to her fatal injuries. The truck driver emerged from the incident unharmed. Currently, all three accidents are undergoing thorough investigation.
