Iowa resident among eight dead in Kansas head-on collision
Tragic news out of Franklin County, Kansas as an Iowa man lost his life in a devastating head-on collision over the weekend. The incident occurred on US 169, where a GMC Yukon XL attempted to pass another vehicle and veered into oncoming traffic, colliding with a Subaru Legacy. This resulted in the loss of eight lives, including 37-year-old Alexander "Alex" Ernst from Ames, who was driving the Subaru. Ernst, a dedicated football video production specialist at Iowa State University, had been part of the athletics department for nearly 20 years. The driver of the GMC, 33-year-old Jaimon Gilstrap from Oklahoma, and three of his passengers also tragically perished in the accident. Our deepest condolences go out to all those affected by this heartbreaking event.
