Investigators complete part of investigation near deadly Harrietstown plane crash site

NBC5 has learned more information about the three victims of a deadly plane crash in the Adirondacks. It comes as authorities have completed part of their investigation near the crash site.On Wednesday, the part of the Adirondack Rail Trail that was closed due to Monday’s plane crash is now back open as investigators work to find the cause of the deadly crash. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) is the lead on the investigation, with support from the New York State Police Department.Authorities released the names of all of the people who were on the plane at the time of the crash. They identified the pilot as Gabriele Jasper of Tom Rivers, NJ, and two passengers - Gabriella Hillgrube of Forked River, NJ, and a child also of Forked River. Investigators say all three died at the scene.The NTSB says the plane took off from Adirondack Regional Airport shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Monday night, but communication with the aircraft was lost shortly after takeoff.Search crews found the wreckage in the woods.Officials are expected to review the aircraft’s maintenance history, weather conditions and any flight data history to determine the cause of the crash.The NTSB says they do not know how long the investigation will take but they are asking any witnesses with surveillance video or information to contact them.
