Investigation underway into fatal tractor-trailer collision in Oneida County.

A tragic accident occurred in Oneida County, resulting in the death of a tractor-trailer driver. The local authorities, under the leadership of Oneida County Sheriff Robert Maciol, are actively investigating the incident that occurred on October 3rd. The collision, which involved a rollover tractor-trailer, was reported around 8:45 a.m., prompting a response from the Road Patrol Deputies, Rome Fire Department, and AmCare Ambulance. Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the deceased driver. Further examination, conducted by the Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Unit and Forensic Unit, revealed that the tractor-trailer, registered to "Real Deal Landscaping" based in Cold Brook, New York, was traveling westbound on State Route 49 before attempting to exit onto Martin Street in the City of Rome. Regrettably, the driver lost control on the exit ramp, causing the vehicle, loaded with stone-type material, to veer off the roadway and overturn on a bridge. As investigations continue, the driver's identity will be disclosed at a later date. Presently, the exit ramp remains closed to facilitate a safety inspection of the bridge for future traffic measures.
