Investigation underway into fatal bike accident on Apopka Vineland Road
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a tragic incident involving a bicyclist and a vehicle on Apopka Vineland Road near AD Mims Road that took place on Friday evening. The collision occurred around 11:50 p.m. when a Honda Odyssey was heading northbound on Apopka Vineland Road while a bicyclist was in the designated bike lane. The driver of the Honda Odyssey, a 65-year-old individual, allegedly swerved into the bike lane and struck the 45-year-old bicyclist who tragically passed away after being taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center. The driver turned himself in at the Apopka Police Department shortly after the incident. The ongoing investigation involves Florida Highway Patrol troopers interviewing the driver and collecting evidence regarding the crash.
