Investigation underway into deadly upstate New York small plane crash
An inquiry is currently being conducted following a twin-engine aircraft accident in Upstate New York. The Mitsubishi MU-2B-40 airplane carrying six individuals crashed in an open field in Copake on Saturday afternoon. The aircraft was en route to Columbia County Airport in Hudson. Authorities believe that all occupants perished in the crash, as stated by a source familiar with the incident. The Columbia County Sheriff's Office, along with various agencies including the FAA and New York State Police, responded to the scene. The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation. Undersheriff Jacqueline Salvatore mentioned that the crash site was challenging to access due to muddy conditions caused by weather. Eyewitnesses or individuals with information are urged to contact the Columbia County Sheriff's Office. Further updates are anticipated to be released on Sunday afternoon.
