Investigation underway in Des Moines on fatal crash linked to deserted car
Des Moines police are currently looking into an incident involving a car crash linked to the tragic death of a woman. Authorities discovered an abandoned vehicle in the 1200 block of School Street on Thursday morning, which they suspect was driven by Margarita Santiago-Popovski, 38, prior to the crash. Santiago-Popovski was found at the scene late Wednesday, and she was later taken to the hospital by West Des Moines EMS, where she succumbed to her injuries the following day. Officials report this as the sixth fatal crash of the year in Des Moines and assure that the investigation is ongoing.
