Investigation underway for fatal crash on I-4 in Lakeland

The Polk County Sheriff's Office (PCSO) is currently looking into a solo car accident that led to the driver's fatality in Lakeland. The incident involved a pickup truck driven by 45-year-old Nathan Michael Quinn of Port Charlotte, who was traveling eastbound on I-4 at around 2:35 a.m. on Aug. 12. Deputies stated that Quinn was observed changing lanes multiple times before losing control of the vehicle, resulting in it overturning and stopping in the outside lane of eastbound I-4. It was noted in the investigation that Quinn was not wearing his seatbelt, causing him to be thrown from the truck, which did not have airbags. Tragically, Quinn was pronounced dead at the accident site. Due to the crash, the eastbound lanes on I-4 were closed for several hours.
