Investigation underway after ultralight crash in Larimer County; one fatality

Emergency responders quickly arrived at the scene of a tragic incident in Northern Colorado when an ultralight aircraft crashed on Wednesday morning. The crash, which resulted in a fatality, occurred at around 8:40 a.m. on West County Road 2. Upon arrival, firefighters found the aircraft ablaze with a single occupant inside. Fortunately, no one else was harmed, and the fire was swiftly extinguished. Power lines were damaged in the crash, leaving 55 customers without electricity, but repair crews promptly restored power. Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the crash, suspecting that the glider hit the power lines before landing on the road. The Larimer County Sheriff's Office is handling the investigation, as the type of aircraft involved falls under their jurisdiction. The victim's identity and the official cause of death will be announced by the Larimer County Coroner's Office at a later date.
