Investigation reveals series of collisions in recent fatal Wyoming tunnel crash

In Green River, Wyoming, a preliminary report was issued on Wednesday regarding a fatal crash that took place last month involving 26 vehicles and resulting in three deaths, as well as the closure of a tunnel in Wyoming. On February 14th at approximately 11:30 a.m., a Toyota Tundra pickup truck exiting the westbound tunnel on I-80 spun to the left, hitting a metal guardrail, and then came to a stop around 150 feet from the tunnel exit, blocking the right lane and part of the left lane. The incident occurred in snowy conditions which caused the speed limit to be reduced to 55 mph, even though the weather was clear at the time of the crash. A Peterbilt semitruck traveling westbound attempted to avoid the stationary Toyota, striking the left side of the tunnel and then stopping on the right shoulder.
