Investigation reveals recalled boat in deadly Eustis accident

A pontoon boat involved in a tragic accident during Labor Day Weekend that resulted in the deaths of three women is part of a product recall. Bombardier Recreational Products issued a recall in February for Sea-Doo Switch models from MY22 to MY25 due to concerns about weight distribution leading to instability and potential capsizing. In a recent statement, an attorney specializing in recreational and boating accidents, Mike Bigos, expressed shock at the preventable nature of the tragedy and criticized the adequacy of the recall and warnings. Bigos called for extreme caution when operating the Sea-Doo Switch, emphasizing the serious risks involved. BRP has since recommended owners to have a safety recall repair performed on their units, which includes applying sealant to specific areas of the hull, adding warning labels, and updating the operator's guide. A lawsuit against BRP is also taking place, following an incident where a toddler sustained a traumatic brain injury after a Sea-Doo Switch accident in Florida.
