Investigation ongoing: Homicide and crash probe on Highway 24, road closure between Woodmen Rd and Judge Orr Rd
We have received new information about the two separate investigations underway on Highway 24 between Woodmen Road and Judge Orr Road. Colorado State Patrol reported a three-vehicle crash with one person sustaining minor injuries. However, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office has begun a homicide investigation at the scene, following the discovery of a deceased passenger in one of the vehicles who was allegedly shot before the crash occurred. The driver of the vehicle where the passenger was shot has reportedly fled. While the Colorado State Patrol is focusing on the crash, the El Paso County Sheriff's Office is leading the homicide inquiry. The Sheriff's Office declined to comment on the investigation when contacted, and updates are anticipated throughout the day. The road remains closed as of 11:00 a.m.
