In the early hours of March 16, multiple reports were received by Austin 9-1-1 regarding a stalled Mitsubishi Mirage in the far left lane in the 11600 block of I-35 northbound. Following a collision with a Ford Bronco, the individual in the Mirage, identified as 47-year-old Edward Espino, was extricated by first responders who attempted medical assistance, revealing that he had sustained gunshot wounds. Tragically, Espino was pronounced deceased at the scene, with the driver of the Bronco not suspected to be involved in his death. Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists were dispatched to the location for further investigation, highlighting that Espino's Mirage had halted in the left lane before being rear-ended.
