Investigation of Deadly Accident on West Andrew Johnson Highway

A teenager from Greeneville tragically lost his life in a collision involving two vehicles on Thursday afternoon at the intersection of West Andrew Johnson Highway and Pruitt Road North in the Mt. Pleasant area. The victim, identified as 19-year-old Blake R. McClellan, passed away at the scene of the incident. According to the report provided by Greeneville Police Officer Jerry Goforth, the crash occurred at around 4:30 pm when a 1996 Ford Mustang driven by McClellan attempted to cross through the median onto West Andrew Johnson Hwy from Pruitt Rd North without yielding to oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision with a 2002 Jeep Cherokee driven by Joshua H. Fincher. Fincher suffered only minor injuries. There were no charges filed in connection with the accident. McClellan, a graduate of South Greene High School in 2024, was mourned by the community. Various local authorities, including Greeneville Police, Greeneville/Greene County EMS, the Greeneville Fire Department, Greene County Sheriff's Department, Mosheim Police Department, and the Greeneville Emergency and Rescue Squad, responded to the scene of the tragic accident. This incident marks the second fatal crash in Greene County this week, with the previous one occurring earlier on West Andrew Johnson Highway and claiming the life of 57-year-old Lisa D. Coffey in a collision involving her car and a tractor-trailer in Mosheim.
