Investigation launched into Amazon drone crash into crane
An investigation is underway after two Amazon Prime Air delivery drones collided with a construction crane in Tolleson, Arizona. The incident occurred on Wednesday in a commercial area near 96th Avenue and Roosevelt Street. Both the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are looking into the collision, which involved two MK30 drones striking the crane. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Following the incident, Amazon temporarily halted drone deliveries in Arizona but has since resumed operations, implementing additional safety measures such as enhanced visual landscape inspections to prevent similar incidents. The exact cause of the crash is still under investigation. This event coincides with ongoing discussions within the U.S. Transportation Department about expanding drone use for commercial purposes like package deliveries. Neither the NTSB, DOT, Amazon, nor Tolleson police have provided further comments at this time.
