Investigation into deadly St. Martin Parish boat accident on Sept. 11
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) is currently looking into a tragic boating incident that took place on September 11 in St. Martin Parish. Scottey R. Broussard, 47, of Arnaudville, lost his life in Henderson Lake. His body was found by LDWF agents and handed over to the St. Martin Parish Coroner's Office for an official cause of death determination. Broussard had launched his homemade skiff from Cypress Cove Landing around 7:30 p.m., and agents were alerted about his unmanned vessel at around 8:15 p.m. The investigation is ongoing, with LDWF Enforcement Division leading the inquiry. It remains unclear why Broussard ended up in the water, as he was found without a life jacket.
