Investigation begins into fatal collision in Rainier Beach area of Seattle

Authorities in Seattle are currently investigating a deadly crash that occurred early Friday morning in the Rainier Beach neighborhood. The incident, which took place on Martin Luther King Jr. Way South between South Norfolk Street and South Ryan Way around 5 a.m., resulted in the closure of several traffic lanes. In light of this, the 1 Line light rail services by Sound Transit have been halted between Rainier Beach and Tukwila International Boulevard stations until further notice, with shuttle buses put in place as alternative transportation. Service, however, continues to run between Lynnwood City Center and Rainier Beach stations, and between Angel Lake and Tukwila International Boulevard stations. While the cause of the crash remains unknown, investigations are ongoing.
