Interstate 840 closed in both directions due to crash on Greensboro Urban Loop

Officials from the North Carolina Department of Transportation reported that a crash on Monday morning led to the closure of all lanes on a section of the Greensboro Urban Loop near Mile Marker 9 on Interstate 840 West. The crash took place at Exit 10 for North Elm Street, resulting in the shut down of all lanes of I-840. In response, Westbound motorists were advised to utilize Exit 10 for North Elm Street, proceeding to Bass Chapel Road, Air Harbor Road, Lake Brandt Road, and then Lawndale Road to return to I-840 West. Meanwhile, Eastbound drivers were instructed to take Exit 8 for Lawndale Drive, turning left on Pisgah Church Road, another left on North Elm Street, and then onto I-840 East. The cause of the crash and the condition of those involved is currently unknown. Live footage from the scene depicted two vehicles involved, with one overturned and both sustaining significant damage. I-840 makes up the northern part of the Greensboro Urban Loop.
