Injuries reported after 3-vehicle crash on I-24W in East Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) -- Motorists were backed up for miles Sunday afternoon due to a multi-vehicle crash that shut down a section of Interstate 24 West in East Nashville. Officials said the three-vehicle crash was reported at approximately 4:38 p.m. on Sunday, April 20 at mile marker 47.6 of I-24, between Spring Street and the Interstate 65 split. As a result, all westbound lanes, both shoulders, and the entry ramp were blocked on I-24 until shortly before 5:15 p.m., at which point the Tennessee Department of Transportation said one westbound lane and the left shoulder had reopened. However, by 6:20 p.m., that whole portion of the interstate was back open. Based on TDOT cameras, traffic along I-24 West was delayed past mile marker 49.5 for a while, but it was flowing pretty smoothly by 5:35 p.m. Metro Nashville dispatch told News 2 there were confirmed injuries from the crash, but there is no word on the number of people hurt or the nature of their injuries at this time. No additional details have been released about this crash.
