Injured man shares recovery journey after being hit by elderly driver.
A tragic car accident involving an elderly driver caused severe injuries to a Canton man, altering his life significantly. The recovery journey for Garrett Biesiadecki is challenging, with each step feeling like a great distance to overcome. Despite his struggles, Biesiadecki bravely faces the tough physical therapy sessions at Team Rehab in Livonia, expressing his determination to keep pushing forward. Last September, the 52-year-old construction worker suffered the loss of his leg and faced a near-death experience when an SUV collided with him while he was working in Canton. After enduring months of intense physical therapy and adjusting to life as an amputee, Biesiadecki shared his difficulties with his prosthetic leg and upcoming replacement. The accident was caused by 81-year-old Judy Kamm, who was charged with reckless driving and a moving violation causing serious harm. Biesiadecki credited a nearby nurse who saved his life by using a shoelace as a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. With no current restrictions on elderly drivers in Michigan, State Senator Rosemary Bayer is contemplating legislative changes to safeguard both elderly drivers and others on the road. Despite the challenges he has faced, Biesiadecki remains hopeful that his rehabilitation will enable him to return to work and contribute to the family business, Action Concrete, emphasizing his determination to fight and not give up.
