Initial findings on deadly aircraft accident near Point Loma
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) released a preliminary accident report on the tragic plane crash off the coast of San Diego a month ago, which resulted in the deaths of all six individuals on board. The report reveals that the twin-engine Cessna 414A suddenly descended and then climbed back up before crashing into the ocean. The pilot, 28-year-old Landon Baldwin, reported having difficulty maintaining control and gaining altitude just before the crash. The cause of the crash has not been determined, and the victims' bodies and most of the wreckage are still missing. The crash victims included Baldwin's pregnant wife, Torrie, and fellow passengers Jeremy Bingham and his sons. The report details the events leading up to the crash, including the pilot's struggle to control the aircraft and the subsequent emergency calls. Recovery operations were conducted with the involvement of various agencies, including the Coast Guard, Customs and Border Protection, and local police and lifeguards. A fundraising campaign has been launched to support the Bingham family with expenses related to the tragedy.
