Indy woman receives 3-year sentence for causing 2 fatal crashes in 2022
An Indianapolis woman, Kelli Anderson, has been sentenced to prison after causing two fatal crashes. Anderson pleaded guilty to two counts of reckless homicide and received a three-year prison sentence. She will also serve three years of monitored probation and have her driver's license suspended for six years as a habitual traffic offender. The state of Indiana dropped several other charges as part of the plea agreement. Before the crashes, doctors had warned Anderson not to drive due to a medical condition. The incidents resulted in the deaths of Brian Dillman and Kiana Burns. Family members of the victims spoke at the sentencing, expressing their grief and the impact of Anderson's choices. Upon receiving her sentence, Anderson apologized for the pain she caused, acknowledging the lives lost and disrupted by her actions. The judge highlighted the loss to the community caused by Anderson's disregard for safety.
