Indy man faces charges for having Delta-9 in blood during deadly crash

A man from Indianapolis has been charged in connection to a deadly collision that occurred in mid-August on the southwest side of the city. Court records show that Evan Palacios Mota faces charges in Marion County related to the incident. Authorities were called to the crash site near Kentucky Avenue and South Lynhurst Drive on August 17, where they discovered the white hatchback driver, Richard Perry, deceased. Palacios Mota, the driver of the black pickup involved in the crash, confessed to medics about concerns regarding alcohol and marijuana use the night prior. The court documents reveal that he admitted to feeling fatigued due to lack of sleep. Palacios Mota disclosed that the collision happened when the white hatchback made a left turn in front of his truck as he was driving on Kentucky Avenue toward the intersection with S. Lynhurst Drive. Reports suggest that his truck was speeding at 60 mph seconds before the impact, and he tested positive for THC. He is currently in custody without bail in Marion County as per court records.
