Indonesian gymnast dies in Russia training mishap.
A 19-year-old Indonesian gymnast and potential Olympic athlete tragically passed away in Russia almost two weeks after being injured during training, according to the local federation. Naufal Takdir Al Bari sustained a severe neck injury while practicing in Penza for the upcoming Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in Jakarta. Despite being in intensive care for 12 days, Naufal sadly did not recover from his injuries. The head of Indonesia's gymnastics federation expressed deep sadness over the loss of Naufal, describing it as a significant blow for their community. Efforts are being made to repatriate his remains back to Indonesia. Naufal had been a contender for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
