India’s highest court seeks government and DGCA reply on Air India crash investigation.

According to a report by News.Az citing foreign media, there has been controversy surrounding the preliminary report of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) in India. The Supreme Court expressed disapproval over media reports that suggested the pilots intentionally cut off the fuel supply, calling these claims regrettable and irresponsible. The AAIB released its preliminary report on July 12 after a plea by the Safety Matters Foundation, highlighting concerns with the report's compliance with the Aircraft (Investigation of Accidents and Incidents) Rules, 2017. The petitioners argue that the report prematurely blamed pilot error for the crash and overlooked other contributing factors. They also raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest among probe panel members. Additionally, the report did not consider the testimony of the sole surviving passenger. The petitioners are requesting access to the flight data recorder information to clarify the cause of the accident. The incident involved a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner bound for London that crashed shortly after takeoff from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad, claiming the lives of most passengers and causing casualties on the ground. The AAIB's preliminary report indicated that the fuel supply to the engines was cut off due to confusion in the cockpit.
