Increased construction incidents lead to heightened safety inspections in Tijuana.
Tijuana's civil protection leader, José Luis Jiménez González, has noticed an increase in construction-site accidents, including fatalities, since the beginning of the year. This situation has prompted his department to conduct more inspections at various job sites across the city. Jiménez González emphasized that due to inadequate safety equipment leading to worker injuries, they have already closed down four construction projects. He mentioned a recent tragic incident where a worker fell to his death, highlighting the growing number of accidents this year. Several contractors have been warned for failing to provide necessary safety gear like harness equipment. Jiménez González also expressed concern over the lack of personnel offering safety training at construction sites. With numerous high-rise buildings under construction in Tijuana, he emphasized the importance of prioritizing human life and ensuring proper safety measures are in place.
