IMPD: 1 dead after Sunday evening crash on near east side of Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS -- One person has been pronounced dead following a Sunday evening crash on the near east side of Indianapolis. According to officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, East District officers responded to a personal injury crash in the 1500 block of Massachusetts Avenue around 10:56 p.m. on Sunday. When officers arrived on scene, they found that a Jeep SUV and a Chevrolet SUV had been involved in a crash. IMPD officials stated that at least one vehicle struck a utility pole. The driver of the Jeep, identified by IMPD as an adult male, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital. IMPD officials stated that the driver of the Chevrolet was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The incident continues to be under investigation by IMPD's fatal crash investigation team.
