Impactful crash causes minor vegetation fire in Poway, traffic disrupted
Five individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident in Poway on Friday afternoon, the San Diego County Sheriff's Department reported. The collision, involving three vehicles, occurred just after 12:30 p.m. near the State Route 67 and Iron Mountain Drive intersection. One of the vehicles involved in the crash ended up in a ravine, causing a brush fire. Emergency medical services and air support quickly responded to extinguish the fire and no structures were threatened. After an initial investigation, deputies discovered the five deceased individuals from the vehicles. The department's Traffic Accident Reconstruction Team is assisting in determining the cause of the collision, which remains under investigation.
