Illinois 5-vehicle collision results in hospitalization of 4 individuals, authorities report

A collision involving five cars in northwest suburban McHenry County sent four individuals to the hospital on Saturday afternoon. The incident occurred at the junction of Route 47 and Foster Road, as reported by the Huntley Fire Protection District. Emergency crews arrived at the scene at approximately 4:30 p.m. where they found multiple vehicles involved. Two cars had a head-on collision, resulting in two individuals being trapped inside one of the vehicles. Firefighters were able to rescue them and provide initial treatment right there. A total of 10 individuals were impacted by the crash, with one person initially transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital before being airlifted to Condell Hospital for further treatment. Another individual was taken to Northwestern Huntley in serious condition, while two more with minor injuries were transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin. Six individuals were discharged on-site under their own care. Various fire departments, including those from Woodstock, Algonquin, Carpentersville, and Rutland Dundee, joined in the emergency response. The McHenry County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the incident. The exact cause of the collision remains unknown at this time.
