Illegal immigrant truck driver caused fatal California accident: DHS

A truck driver has been involved in a tragic eight-car accident in California, resulting in the loss of three lives and injuries to at least four others. The driver, identified as Jashanpreet Singh, collided with multiple vehicles in slow-moving traffic on Interstate 10 in Ontario, California. Among the deceased were a basketball coach and his spouse, as well as another individual in a pickup truck. The semitrailer, as shown in dashcam footage, struck an SUV and other cars without braking beforehand. Singh, a 21-year-old Indian resident of Yuba City, California, was found to be allegedly under the influence of drugs during the incident. Authorities are also exploring other potential causes, such as mechanical issues. Singh entered the US unlawfully in 2022 and was released as part of a program initiated by the Biden administration. Following his arrest on charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) issued a detainer for him.
