Identity revealed for victim of recent crash on Athens Boonesboro Road
UPDATE: As of 12 p.m on October 23, the Fayette County Coroner has identified the individual who tragically lost their life in a collision that took place late Thursday night on Athens Boonesboro Road. The victim was named as Benjamin Gabbard, aged 48. The cause of death was determined to be severe blunt force injuries, with the incident deemed as "accidental." In the initial report, it was stated that one person had passed away and another sustained critical injuries as a result of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Athens Boonesboro Road and Doe Run Trail in Lexington. The Lexington police arrived at the scene just before 1:00 a.m. on Thursday to respond to the incident. The outbound lanes of Athens Boonesboro Road were temporarily closed for several hours at Hays Boulevard to allow for investigation by the Crash Reconstruction Unit. The road has since been reopened.
