Identification of victims in fatal Highway 183 hit-and-run
The California Highway Patrol reported a fatal three-vehicle collision near Salinas where two individuals lost their lives. The victims have been identified as Aristeo Cruz Jimenez from Port Hueneme and Marcos Cruz Alia from Salinas. The incident occurred on Thursday on Highway 183, south of Cooper Road, at approximately 4:47 p.m. A red sedan, waiting to turn left, was hit from behind by a gray GMC SUV, causing it to collide with an oncoming semi-truck. The driver of the sedan, a 20-year-old male, sustained major injuries and was hospitalized. Following the crash, the GMC driver initially fled the scene but was later located and identified as a 19-year-old female from Salinas.
