Identification of victim in 7-vehicle collision in South Sacramento

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office has identified the individual who tragically lost their life on June 7 in a multi-vehicle accident triggered by a man evading police following a domestic incident on June 1. The victim has been named as Huynh Huu Duc Nguyen, a 30-year-old resident of Elk Grove. The initial incident involved a reported case of domestic violence in Sacramento, with the suspect identified as Daniel Cunningham, 33, who had absconded by the time officers arrived. Subsequently, on June 7, when officers were summoned back to the scene for a civil standby, Nguyen, who had been assaulted by Cunningham in the earlier incident, sought police assistance to retrieve her belongings. Cunningham led authorities on a chase that culminated in a collision involving seven vehicles at an intersection in South Sacramento. A fatality occurred as a result of the crash, and Cunningham, after attempting to flee on foot, was apprehended and hospitalized before being cleared for incarceration. Cunningham faces charges linked to parole violation, domestic violence, and felony pursuit, amongst others. The Sacramento Police Department has enlisted the help of the CHP's Major Accident Investigation Team to probe the collision further, with a GoFundMe page set up by the family to facilitate donations for those interested.
