Identification of victim and arrest of suspect following deadly collision in Colorado Springs

A recent fatal crash near Old Colorado City resulted in the arrest of the driver and the identification of the victim, as reported by the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD). The incident occurred on September 5th just after 10:30 p.m. when a car collided with a pedestrian at the intersection of Highway 24 and 26th Street. Responding to the call, CSPD, alongside the Colorado State Patrol and the Colorado Springs Fire Department, found the pedestrian deceased at the scene. After an autopsy by the El Paso County Coroner's Office on September 8th, the pedestrian was identified as Jeremy Ives, 28 years old. The driver, 59-year-old Cameron Walsh, initially fled the scene but was later apprehended by authorities. Walsh faces multiple charges including Vehicular Homicide, DUI, Hit and Run, and Driving After Revocation Prohibited. This incident marks the 41st traffic-related fatality in Colorado Springs this year, compared to 39 at the same time last year. Over the past year, there have been 51 traffic fatalities in Colorado Springs, according to CSPD.
