Identification of Tulsa, OK high school students as victims in Franklin County, KS fatal crash
Two individuals involved in a tragic accident on U.S. 169 near Virginia Road in Franklin County, Kansas, have been identified as students from Tulsa, Oklahoma high schools. The student from Booker T. Washington High School was named as Donald “DJ” Laster by Principal Dr. Melissa Woolridge, who expressed sorrow for the loss felt within their school community. Support services are being provided by Tulsa Public Schools, with COPES offering crisis assistance as well. The other student, from Union High School Freshman Academy, was identified as Kyrin Schumpert. Union Public Schools Superintendent expressed deep condolences and activated a crisis response team to offer counseling and support across the district. The tragic accident occurred when two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in eight fatalities and one critically injured person. The crash report is pending release.
