Identification of mother killed in San Mateo crash caused by driver running red light

A tragic collision occurred in San Mateo on Thursday evening, resulting in the death of a mother and critical injuries to her two young sons as their car was struck by an SUV that ran a red light. This devastating incident took place at the intersection of Alameda de las Pulgas and Highway 92. The driver of the Toyota Prius, identified as 30-year-old Yina Marcela Ramos Bello, lost her life in the crash, while her 5 and 7-year-old boys were rushed to a local hospital in critical but stable condition. The driver of the Ford SUV, who was the sole occupant, suffered minor injuries and was hospitalized. Although the investigation is ongoing, initial findings indicate that the Ford driver failed to stop at the red light while exiting eastbound Highway 92, leading to the collision with the Prius traveling on a green light. Authorities confirmed that the Ford driver was not impaired. The road closures due to the crash investigation were lifted approximately four hours later.
