Identification of MCAS Miramar pilot killed in plane crash
A pilot from Camp Pendleton tragically lost his life in a military aircraft accident last week. Maj. Tyler R. Braconi, aged 35, was identified as the pilot of the AH-1Z Viper that experienced an aviation mishap during routine operations in Imperial Gables, California. The incident occurred at 7 p.m. on October 16. Following the accident, Lt. Col. Christopher Hart expressed his condolences, stating, "We mourn the loss of a ‘Gunfighter,’ brave aviator, and leader that served our nation with humility, strength, and purpose." Another pilot was injured in the crash and is currently in stable condition. The crew was participating in the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course at the time, with the cause of the mishap still under investigation.
