Identification of Christian County deputy and spouse in deadly accident close to Highlandville
A tragic accident near Highlandville resulted in the loss of the lives of off-duty Christian County deputy Michael E. Adams and his wife, Ashley. The couple was involved in a head-on collision on Melton Road at 8:50 p.m., caused by a suspected impaired driver who had evaded law enforcement in the past. Both Mike and Ashley Adams passed away at the scene and were later taken to the Coroner's Office. Their grandchild, only four months old, was also in the vehicle during the crash and is currently in serious but stable condition at the hospital. The driver responsible for the collision sustained moderate injuries and was hospitalized. Deputy Mike Adams, who had been with the Christian County Sheriff's Office since November 7, 2022, previously served in the Air Force and worked for the Scott County Sheriff's Office and the Mississippi County Sheriff's Office before relocating to Christian County with his wife. Sheriff Brad Cole expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting Deputy Adams' reliability and dedication to his duties. Funeral and memorial arrangements for Deputy Adams will be shared once finalized, and CCSO is requesting privacy for the Adams family. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into the crash, and Ozarks First will provide updates as additional information is released.
