ID of victim from WPD: Fatal crash suspect discharged from hospital
Authorities in Wichita, Kansas, are on the lookout for a suspect tied to a recent fatal crash who left the hospital. The collision occurred on Wednesday at the intersection of Harry and Rock, resulting in the tragic death of 14-year-old Jackson Nzabonimpa. Following the accident where a speeding BMW collided with a power pole and utility box, Nzabonimpa was struck and killed. While two individuals from the BMW attempted to escape but were caught after a brief chase, the 19-year-old driver, Gauge Brasher, fled the hospital after being treated for injuries. It is alleged that Brasher was driving under the influence during the crash. The police emphasize that the incident was not accidental but rather a consequence of irresponsible decisions, as mentioned by Chief Joe Sullivan in a statement. Authorities are determined to hold Brasher accountable for the fatal outcome and request anyone with details about his whereabouts to contact 911 immediately. Additionally, witnesses who have not yet spoken to investigators are urged to reach out to the Accident Follow-up Unit at 316-350-3685. While it is uncommon for news outlets like KSN News to name suspects before charges are filed, in this case, due to concerns over public safety, the decision has been made to release the name of the individual believed to pose a danger to the community.
