Ice causes accidents, road closures in Austin
In Central Texas, icy roads led to hazardous conditions on Sunday, causing crashes that closed parts of major highways. A collision involving an Austin Police Department patrol vehicle was reported by Chief Lisa Davis, who reassured that everyone involved was unharmed. Davis urged people to avoid driving unless absolutely necessary for safety reasons. Northbound Interstate 35 in San Marcos was shut down at Posey Road following a crash involving a semi-truck with a fuel spill. As of 1:25 p.m. Sunday, the road had reopened after deicing efforts by TxDOT following several other minor incidents in the area.
