I-94 Westbound Closed at M-39 Due to Overnight Traffic Collision
A man from Dearborn Heights tragically passed away after his pickup truck collided with a gravel hauler on Interstate 94, the Michigan State Police confirmed. The incident occurred around 12:24 a.m. on Friday in the westbound lanes of I-94 near M-39 (Southfield Freeway). The crash led to the closure of all westbound lanes of I-94 well into the Friday morning commute for accident investigation and cleanup, as per reports from the Michigan Department of Transportation. The ramp from northbound M-39 to I-94 was also closed off. The driver, aged 64, was declared deceased at the scene. Witnesses informed troopers that the gravel hauler had pulled over on the shoulder due to mechanical problems before the pickup truck collided with it. F/Lt. Mike Shaw mentioned, "It remains unclear why the pickup driver veered onto the shoulder. A clearer picture may emerge after reviewing medical examiner reports and other evidence."
